Exchange server is not sending mail from out network scanner to recipients. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our network scanner has been giving me an error message lately, which started out of no where. There were no network changes, and no network interuptions. Before it stopped sending messages all together, a user had mentioned to me that the scanned images were going to their spam folder, so I added the IP of the scanner to the whitelist in our filter.

A little while later, the scanner keeps getting an error message, I got with my service provider for out printers/scanners and they said that the error was from the exchange server. I went to the logs and saw that the exchange server is getting the message, and the message is not being blocked my our 3rd party spam filter.

I am not too fluent in exchange, what is the next thing that I should check? Thanks.

  • What is version of Exchange server?

I assume you are using Exchange server 2010.

As I know, although you can enable anti-spam feature both on Hub server and Edge Transport server, you can only enable attachment filter on Edge transport server.

So it is not due to attachment filter agent.

I suggest you change an IP address for the scanner and try again.

As you mentioned, “the scanned images were going to their spam folder”

What do you means spam folder? Deleted items or junk E-mail folder?

I suggest you check Outlook junk e-mail filtering

In order to identify who caused the issue, Could you please try to disable anti-spam filter agent on hub transport server?

The error message will help to solve this issue.

  • What is the error message that you are getting?  Is the scanner authenticating with Exchange or connecting anonymously?  What version of Exchange?
