Missing Submenu in the Contextmenu dropdown when Right Clicking on the desktop "CREATE SHORCUT" RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to right click on Desktop there's no "Create Shortcut" button on the "NEW menu" . I just recently fixed the Context-Menu because it was gone a while ago.

regarding this registry issue you can do this 3 step, but I suspected your issue maybe caused by 3rd party application or maybe virus malware ect (do clean boot to eliminate issues from 3rd party application, also scan PC in safe mode)

    1. run sfc (system file checker)

    2. system restore back to condition when everything work normal using restore point

    3. in place upgrade

  • Hi,

Some keys might be missing or corrupted in your registry, please open registry editor, locate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk, there should be a key named "SharedNew", if this key is missing or corrupted, or just the ".lnk" key is corrupted, then ShortCut will be missing, I suggest you check these keys in your system, or if you have a system which is functiong fine, then you can export the key from that PC, then import it to your problematic PC.
(before you make any changes in registry, makesure to back the registry, cause any incorrect changes will result in serious damages)
And as britishdhez mentioned above, it also could be caused by some 3 rd party applications.
