BitLocker "Key upload date" is always "Invalid Date" in Microsoft Account RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

can anyone of the devs please look into this.

Making a backup of the BitLocker recovery key to Microsoft Account seems to have an issue in setting the "Key upload date".

It's always set to "Invalid Date".

It was uploaded from "Windows 10 Pro" via "Manage BitLocker".

Please fix it so that we can see when a key was uploaded, thanks!

  • Hi,

Did you try delete and re-upload again?

How long have you been facing this problem?

You can try Microsoft Account Troubleshooter.

"Microsoft Accounts Troubleshooter: Fix Microsoft Account Sync and Settings Problem"

    Best regards.

Yes, though the re-upload does not help.

I noticed this issue 1-2 weeks ago.

But the problem seems to be already some years old, just google for "BitLocker" "recovery key" "invalid date" and you will find many threads.

For example you will find this:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/strange-date-bug-for-backed-up-bitlocker-recovery/32e9bcaf-f3d0-4b3b-b6d7-510e65514c6f

I did not try this troubleshooter (but I know it) since I have a fresh clean Windows installation so there should be nothing broken. I think it's just a bug since also other people reported this.

Some dev should really look into the upload code (or the backend) and check how it's possible to get an "Invalid Date".
