  • Hello both,

    Thanks for reporting this.

Are you seeing this issue right after upgrading to 16.10? We will give it a try in our testing lab, and see if we can repro it. Will keep you guys posted on this.

Meanwhile, if you don't mind, try to uninstall and reinstall the client, and see if it helps.

    Regards,

    Ethan Hua

  • I am seeing the exact same issue: OSX High Sierra 10.13.3, Outlook 2016 16.10.  All other Office 2016 applications are working normally; only Outlook is crashing.  I have checked the autoproxy settings and they are unchecked for all network interfaces.

  • I also tried reinstalling Outlook and AutoUpdate, then running AutoUpdate again.  No change.

  • I found the only option that would work to restore Outlook operation was to completely uninstall Office 2016 for Mac, and then reinstall from the original .DMG package.  This puts a much older version of Office back on the my Mac (15.37), but at least it all works. I turned off AutoUpdate for now, because it tries to install 16.10 again. (I could not attach a link to the uninstall instructions since I just created this forum account, but you can Google "Uninstall Office 2016 for Mac" for the Microsoft article.)

  • I have one mac user in my environment and they started to experience this same issue within the past week. This is still an issue. Microsoft should really release a service health update for Office 365 Admins so we are aware that this is an issue. It would also let us know that Microsoft is working on some sort of solution. Downgrading to an earlier version is not a viable solution.

Ethan Hua, thank you for replying to these posts. Can you please give an update as to where this issue is at? And if possible please provide a timeline of when this will be fixed. Thank you!

  • Can you please update if this issue has been resolved or any work around?  My customer is also facing this problem and they're using Mac Os High Sierra 10.13.3 and Outlook version 16.0.  Below is the error they receive when try to open outlook.

Microsoft Outlook Cannot be opened because of a problem

Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft Outlook works with this version of MacOS.  You may need to re-install the application.  Be sure to install any available updates for the application and MacOS.
