Change to a firewall inbound rule causes server to hang. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was working remote and after clicking "Apply" for the change I was making that window hung. I could not control any other window so I closed the seesion and retried but could not then connect with the server. I visited the site, logged on and found the situation the same except tht I could close other windows but not the firewall one) so I clicked restart. The server then hung on "closing services" screen so I had to force power off.

Is this a known problem with SBS server 2008 (all updates done)?

    Many thanks for your time.

  • A very good question, and we'd stand a better chance of answering it if you told us exactly what you did before it hung. No, SBS2008 doesn't tend to do that randomly.

  • I was changing a scope on an inbound rule I had created earlier. I clicked apply and the screen hung at that point. I suppose I should have found the apprpriate service and restarted it. I could gather some event detail if I knew where to look.
