Windows Explorer - Arrange by RRS feed

  • I have a user with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 who is unable to use the arrange by view the documents section. When the user changes its from anything else but Folder, the folder displays the message "This folder is empty"

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.

     

    Do you mean that the content of Document library is empty when you viewed other than by Folder?

     

    I suggest you restore default library to check the result:

     

    1.    Open windows Explorer and on the left pane you can see libraries.

    2.    Right click on Libraries.

    3.    Click on Restore default libraries.

     

    If this issue persists, please try to create a new user profile for test; if this issue does not occur in new user profile, please kindly refer to the following method:

     

    Fix a corrupted user profile

  • I have this issue too. I believe its because I have set up custom libraries on unindexed folders using the mklink command. A library just containing unindexed folders has the "this folder is empty" message for all non-folder views. The libraries which use a combination of indexed and unindexed only show the indexed items in any of the special "arrange by" views. For the folder views they work normally as any library would.
