Looking for clarification on a IE Hotfix that was released kb2991509 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft has released a Hotfix (Internet Explorer may become slow or unresponsive when web applications implement consecutive modal dialog boxes).  The Symptoms section of the article says you may notice this after you apply the MS14-037 (the July IE Update) or MS14-051 ( the August IE update) cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. However, the Prerequisite section only mentions the August IE update: “You must have MS14-051 Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2976627/ )  installed to apply this hotfix”.  We have not installed the August update since we are investigating the Active X blocking.  Does anyone know if the Hotfix will work if only the July IE update was deployed?  Did Microsoft just forget to add MS14-037 in the prerequisite section?

  • Hi,

I have tried to install this hotfix before MS14-051 installed on Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64, IE 11 version  11.0.9600.16672, update version 11.0.10, and the standalone isntaller told "this update is not applicable to your computer." Then it exits.

As the system requirements told here:

Important: You must apply MS14-051 Cumulative Security Update for IE before installing this fix. Failure to do so could cause serious impacts to how IE functions.

    Best regards
