    Hi Memitova,

    Thank you for the post.

    First please understand we cannot directly copy the system files from the original hard drive to a bigger one. If you would like to install Windows Vista on a bigger hard drive, you can use Windows Easy Transfer and its companion to back up files and programs on the original drive. Then please install Windows Vista on the bigger hard drive and restore files and programs to it.

    For more information about Windows Easy Transfer and its companion, please refer to the following site:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/easytransfer.mspx

    If you don't want to install Windows Vista on a bigger drive but continue using the current drive, let’s refer to the following information to address your concern.

    At this time, I would like to confirm if Windows Vista is installed on C drive or other drives. Is the Windows Vista drive the primary one or slave one?

    You may need to check the drive connections first.

    After that, we can try to use the following methods to troubleshoot the issue.

    Method 1: Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

    ===========================================

    1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. Press any key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.

    3. Select a language, time, currency, and a keyboard or input method. Then click Next.

    4. Click Repair your computer.

    5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next.

    6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click Repair your computer.

    7. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

    8. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

    Method 2: Rebuild BCD

    ===========================================

    1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. Press any key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.

    3. Select a language, time, currency, and a keyboard or another input method. Then click Next.

    4. Click Repair your computer.

    5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

    7. Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

    Method 3: Use Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to run System Restore (If System Restore is enabled on your computer)

    ===========================================

    5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next

    6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on System Restore.

    7. Follow the System Restore Wizard instructions and choose the appropriate restore point.

    8. Click Finish to restore the system.

    What’s the result?

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Hi Memitova,

    Thank you for the reply.

    As far as I know, we can only manually activate the system certain times. The purpose is to protect our product keys.

    However, we can contact Microsoft Activation Center 888-571-2048 to activate the system directly. There is no limitation for the activation times.

    Hope it helps.
