Reporting: schema file and binding file RRS feed

  • Question

  • we are working on generating custom reports in FIM 2010 R2 and we have an issue since we have around 100 custom attributes and 10 custom oject resources created in FIM. we need these attributes to be available in the reports. Following the technet steps for modifying the data warehouse schema and binding we have to generate two xml files: schema\Microsoft.Forefront.IdentityManager.Datawarehouse.Test.Extensibility.xml which contains definitions for new schema elements and binding\Microsoft.Forefront.IdentityManager.Datawarehouse.Test.Extensibility.xml which defines mapping between the datawarehouse and FIM.

in our case with the large number of custom objects and resources, is there an automated way to generate these 2 xml files rather than manually entering the objects and attribute names?

    Thanks

  • Yes you could make an automated way -- Export the custom objects and attributes using FIM PowerShell Commandlets and then use the PowerShell commandlets to write out the needed XML.

Unfortunately I am unaware of anyone having published such a tool, so building it yourself is probably more trouble than it is worth -- but this could be a nice OpenSource addition? (which is also why I bother with a post that is 6 yrs old)
