Bad voice quality, but good MOS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was on a Lync call to PSTN, and experienced poor quality - choppy audio.

However, the Lync Session Detail report says the quality was fine - network MOS was 3.7; jitter, packet loss, round trip all very low.

Could the source of the problem be something else besides the PSTN?

  • Hi John,

Please try call PSTN numbers with different beginning codes(diferent provinces or countries) to check the probleim still occurs.

If still the same problem, please check you gateway and mediation server hardware and configuartion, and the cable connection.

  • Thanks, but that is not even remotely helpful.

  • Hi John,

poor voice quality can also be related to the hardware used or if other applications on the PC causing issues. If you face a notice bar saying the hardware is decreasing voice quality and it's Lync certified HW in place it is likely that the PC is causing trouble.

    Thanks.

Are you saying that if those things happened, they would not be recorded in the Lync Session Detail reports?  My experience is they are, or at least, are supposed to.
