  • I've never researched this so I'm wondering if someone has info to pass along...

One model of Dell we have, 7530, has 4 drives listed:
    SATA-3/Slot-3                SATA-4/Slot-4
    M.2 PCIe SSD-0/Slot-5    M.2 PCIe SSD-1/Slot-2

I found that if I disable SATA-4 and image, then the .5TB drive gets images as desired. Once finished, I go back in and enable the SATA-4/Slot-4 and the 1TB secondary drive appears.

I'm not at all clear as to what is going on and what all the slots are, or which is SATA vs M.2. Rather than manually disabling SATA-4 and then re-enabling it, is there something I can do to have MDT image the proper drive by default.....without altering my working TS's which already seem to do this. Rudimentary for sure.
    Thanks

  • The issue is that SATA gets listed before M.2 drives and MDT by default will target Disk 0. Either you can disable the SATA drives (easiest) or you can edit the task sequence to target a different disk or perhaps make your own script to target whichever drive you want.
