Windows 7 RC for Educational Use RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot find the Windows 7 RC EULA to check this for myself. Am I enjoined from redistributing Windows 7 RC to my students for their use in an operating systems course?

(I had previously posted this question in the Windows Vista/Getting Ready For Windows 7, but I believe this is the proper place for it.)

  • hi Radied,

There is nothing in this link yet. :)
But i found the "MICROSOFT PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS".

You can find them if you boot from the RC1 installation cd. And start the installation.
Or if you look on the RC1 installation DVD in the folder [DVDDRIVE]:\sources\license\_default\_default.
YOu find all the licensing textes for Windows 7 RC1.

    Kind Regards

  • Yes, the license file is there. It makes clear that a participant in the RC evaluation process cannot redistribute RC 7. It says (in part):

    6.         PRODUCT KEYS
You are responsible for the use of product keys assigned to you (if any). You may not share the products keys with third parties.

    10.       Scope of License
    .
You may not ... transfer the software or this agreement to any third party;...

  • http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/eula.aspx provides access to a privacy statement (what MS will do with data collected from users of RC 7) but I don't see any information there about redistribution. Have I overlooked something?

  • Why not have your students get their own keys for the RC from Microsoft?
