Move Distribution Point installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I haven't really worked with SCCM yet but I still got this glorious task to move the DP installation of our distribution points from drive C:\ to drive D:\. I did some reading on this and looks like there is a way to move the packages folder from c:\ to d:\. But the staging or inbox folder on our distribution points needs to be moved as well because we are running out of disk space.

What I have read about it, it sounds like we need to uninstall the distribution point and then reinstall it on the correct drive. However, is there a way to put the distributed packages back into the packages folder so they are not being uploaded through the slow uplinks again?

As I said I have not really worked with SCCM so maybe I am completly on the wrong path here.

    We use SCCM 2007.

    Thank you

  • you can move both the smspkg$ and the smspkg folders, those should be consuming the most space.

you cannot move the SMSPKGSIG though
