Is it possible to disable alerts on a specific list. I have a generic user group which has permission to add alerts, but from this specific list I want to disable alerts.
You need to create a custom permission level (without the create alerts permission) and apply it to users/groups of that list. This does mean breaking security inheritance from the parent site.
