Sharepoint 2007 Setting Item level permission RRS feed

  • How do i set item level permission using SharePoint 2007 workflow. As I've been working on employee leave management, time sheet entry and attendance, quite similar to Orange HRM features...And also being a beginner who never had any hands on SharePoint. It would be really grateful if anybody comes up with all the help for me.

    Employees should not be able to see each other's personal information like contact details, email addresses, etc other than the Admin. How do i do that step by step automatically using a workflow using SharePoint 2007....?

  • I believe you'll need to use custom code. One option would be to have folders preset for the people and set the permissions on the folders. When a new item is added, then move it to the appropriate folder based on the user.

    But how do i go about it? The whole procedure of creating a folder and then placing the item into it and setting permission.

  • Thank You, Devendra. I Installed SPDActivities, but it ain't working. Even if i click on that particular activity, nothing's working. The old 2007 activities still work but not the one which are newly added. 'll tell you what exactly i have done so far. I have added all the  individual employee details in separate folders and also given "Full Control" as permission for that particular individual. And now in future if the particular employee's contact detail has to be updated how will it get stored in his particular folder? Workflow has to be done for it. But there's no suitable Action specified. Please HELP.
