Custom url to the portal (containing search criteria) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I want to open portal from external application on some specific object. Can I build url to the portal which will execute search for some object?

  • Hi Boris

    The way I would do it is to use the Resource Management Client in my custom application.

  • Personal note: Isn't it what you've done recently back at MSFT? GSM, BHOLD?

    General answer, if nothing was changed it should be something like this: /aspx/customized/PopupCustomizedObject.aspx?type={0}&id={1}

    But you need to know type and ObjectID. To get an ID you need to use resource client as pointed out earlier in this thread.

  • If you know "id" then yes it is the same case. But here I know some other attribute and want to search using it.

  • AFAIK this is not possible in pure portal scenario as there is no way to submit search for FIM only through URL action. Best what you could achieve I think is redirect to a view for a given object type with configured search scope. But this will not do a search for you.

    For custom application I would go for doing a search with ResourcesManagement client directly from an app.
