Windows 7 desktop changing; taskbar problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Windows 7 desktop keeps changing to a default desktop when the computer is shut down or goes to sleep.  In addition, I am unable to lock my taskbar.  Even if the lock taskbar option is checked the taskbar still won't lock.  This issue started about a week ago and no matter how many times I change my desktop or lock my taskbar it continues.  Another friend of mine is having the same issue and he is running a different computer so it seems that the problem is a Windows problem.  Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

As the same issue occurs on two seperate operation system, I would like to know if both PCs install the same display card driver and if they both install one software that may interfer with Windows.

When did this issue first occur? Can you associate this issue with any software or hardware change? If recently, system restore may be of under consideration.

To check if this issue is caused by any third party software, prepare clean boot for troubleshoot.\
