Check boxes in Word 2007 document are not printed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using Windows 7 of course and I'm printing a Word document from Office 2007 which contains check boxes to an HP PSC 1210 printer. The print job finishes without errors but no check boxes are printed. I send the same document to my HP OfficeJet j5780 printer and everything prints just fine. Does this see to be a driver issue? I sent the document from my XP Home PCs to the PSC 1210 and the check boxes are printed. I don't get this problem.

  • I discovered that the problem is in the HP alternate print driver I'm using. The Deskjet 3420 driver doesn't communicate properly to the printer through Windows 7. The driver was written for XP and earlier Windows OS's. The kicker is that HP does support this printer on Windows 7 and made the HP PSC 1210 driver available through Windows Update. However, it can only be installed when the PC is connected through the USB port. The madness!!!
