  • Hi,

After analyzing the CBS.log you uploaded, I find that you have imageres.dll, sppcomapi.dll and background.bmp cannot be repaired.

Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you run the following command to replace these damaged files with Command Prompt in system recovery options.

    Copy  <drive letter>:\<file name>   <target location>   /y

Note: <drive letter> stands for the drive letter of the removable disk or CD, <file name> is the file name we want to replace and we just zipped, <target location> is the original file location.

For example, if I want to replace the imageres.dll, the default location of imageres.dll is C:\Windows\System32, the good imageres.dll file is located on Drive E, we can run the following command to replace the corrupt bfsvc.exe

    Copy  E:\imageres.dll   C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll   /y

Here are the good files download links:

    For Windows 7 x86

    For Windows 7 x64

If the issue persists, I would like to suggest you perform an In-Place upgrade to repair the system.

    In-place Upgrade

    ============

    1. Start the computer.

    2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive.

    3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate:

    a. If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears. Click Install now.

    b. If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:

b1. Click Start, click Run, type Drive:\setup.exe, and then click OK. Note Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.

       b2. Click Install now.

    4. When you reach the Which type of installation to you want? screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows 7.

    Does it work?

    Here is the detailed log:

  • Hi, Enkidoe:

Open Start, Control Panel, Programs, click Turn Windows features on or off, deselect Windows Search, click OK, repeat the same steps, select Windows Search, click OK, and restart your computer.

If this didn't help, "Class not registered" means that a class that should be in the registry couldn't be found. Process Monitor is a nice application that helps you find which registry entry is missing.

Download Process Monitor from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx and run it. Make sure that the application is monitoring your system (ie, there is NOT an "X" over the magnifying glass icon). Minimize Process Monitor and press Win+F to open Windows Search. When you receive the "class not registered" error, restore Process Monitor, click File, Save and choose a location for a PML report file. Upload the PML file (for example to your Windows Live SkyDrive account) and paste here the link so that we can take a look.

Press Win+R to open the Run dialog box, type the following and press OK:

    rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL %SystemRoot%\System32\srchadmin.dll

  • Hi,

According to your problem description, some system files can be damaged.

Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you run System File Checker to scan and repair the system files. If some files cannot be repaired, would you please run the following command and send us the sfcdetails.txt from Drive C to the public folder of SkyDrive, then provide us the link for downloading and analyzing?

findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt

    the logfile

    ============
