HA for PAC file location RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We want to set up HA for our PAC file in the event the server hosting the PAC file is offline. Our current set-ups is:

Pac file is accessed via browser auto config script …. http://pachost.example.net/ProxyHosted.pac  …. which resides on \\NYFS01.example.net\C$\inetpub\wwwroot

We’re a Windows shop and Pachost.example.net is a CNAME that resolves to NYFS01.example.net.

What’s the best/simplest way to do this?  We don’t require any load balancing, clients just need to fail-over if the NY server is offline.

    I was thinking the following:

    • Install IIS on server in another site - LAFS01 example.net.  Once IIS is installed can I just copy over PAC file to \\ LAFS01 example.net \C$\inetpub\wwwroot .. or is there more config required?
    • Update DNS.  What exactly do we do here given our current setup?

    Thanks
