Router/firewall choice for publishing Lync externally

Question
-
I've been told that to meet the publishing requirements of Lync 2010 I need
to deploy a router that supports "static NAT'ing" capabilities. I thought my
existing router supported that, but Microsoft Technical Advisory Services told
me no it did not. However they refuse to 'elaborate' why because this is not a
"Microsoft supported component". Please could someone with successful Lync
experience forward me some suggestions on router/firewall models that actually
work with Lync so we can finally complete this implementation (publishing Lync
externally).
Thanks in advance for any assistance on this.

hello Stephen,
As such there is no specification for routers or for firewalls for Microsoft Lync support, to publish the Lync server externaly we should have any router who is capable to do 1-1 static NAT, and for web publishing rule your firewall should be able to accept the certificate for revers proxy, however you can refer following article for Publishing Lync server externally

Microsoft does not dictate/recommend types/vendors of firewalls to support Lync. They do have a certfication program for other equipment like Hardware Load Balancers, voice gateways, PBX integration, SIP Trunking providers. See link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/gg131938.aspx
There is no list of supported/approved firewalls for Lync.
