  • Hi,

If you want the users contact the closest site, you have to create two sites, one site for Datacenter and another site for Branch location ,throught the site and service active directory .

Then you have to create all subnets for clients (server and computer) through  site and service active directory Wizard and assign it to closest site.

Once you finish Subnet and site settings , the client will start to look the closest site when it try to contact a domain controller for first time , the next step ,it  save the closest site information in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters\DynamicSiteName.   This information will help it to contact  with closest site for AD for each authentication request.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your support.

    1. In Datacenter

create one new site and create new subnet for all DC(servers and computers)

    2. In Branch office

create one new site and create new subnet(server and user computer- ip address range) for this branch office(servers and computers)

Note:  create one new site and create new subnet for each branch office(servers and computers)  for each Branch office.

It is correct and Best way .... ?

  • Hi,

    Yes, correct.

if the branch has many subnet , you can also create many subnet and assign them to same site.

If you just create just new site without touch subnet, no impact of DATACENTER servers, they will continue contacting with DC in Defaukt-first-Site.

    Hi,

Once Site and subnet configured , you can check from a workstation or server if it contact a DC from closest site through the followings commands:

    nltest /dsgetdc:domain.com

Don't forget to validate the response that find you useful :)
