Cannot add an Outlook 2013 Account RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to set up an Outlook 2013 account. The Windows 8 account works fine, but the Outlook on the desktop view will not allow me to set up the account using the Wizard. This happened after the latest SW update. My existing account stopped working, so I foolishly deleted it and thought I'd just reset up. It appears the wizard is unable to connect. How do I manually set up the @msn.com account?

    Hi,

Did you get any error message when set up the account? It could be due to the account settings that you've entered in Outlook are incorrect.

To configure Outlook to connect to an MSN email account, you should select POP3 as the Account Type, use pop3.live.com as the Incoming mail server, and smtp.live.com as the Outgoing mail server (SMTP).

For more account settings in Outlook 2013, please refer to this KB article (Method 2: Change the MSN POP3 account settings in Outlook - Outlook 2013):

Please follow the instructions in the article, make sure that you have entered all the information correctly and verify result again.

It's recommended to download and install Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office programs.
