  • Hi rup,

Firstly, the above error 1418 can be caused by several reasons, such as incorrect endpoints configuration, firewall blocking or your account doesn’t have sufficient permissions. For further analysis, please help to collect more detailed information from error log files of principal server and mirror server. By default, SQL Server error log file locates in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQLxx.xxxx\MSSQL\Log.

Secondly, according to the article, please note that the prerequisites for setting up database mirroring.
        • For a mirroring session to be established, the partners and the witness, if any, must be running on the same version of SQL Server.
        • The principal server and mirror server, must be running the same edition of SQL Server. The witness, if any, can run on any edition of SQL Server that supports database mirroring.
        • Verify that the mirror server has sufficient disk space for the mirror database.
        •  Make sure that you restore the backup of the principal database specifying the same database name WITH NORECOVERY when creating the mirror database on the mirror server.

Thirdly, you don’t have to use certificates when configuring mirroring between a domain server and a workgroup server. You can use local machine accounts with the same username and password for each SQL instance, then configure mirroring, for more details, please review the following blog.

  • Hi There,

Try in the similar way like you setup mirroring between two different domains using certificates.

    check the below link.
