Skype for Business 2015 - How to create a custom status message RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to add Urgent Interruptions Only to my Skype status messages. How do you accomplish this on Skype for Business 2015? I did some research and found some older info on Lync. Those steps don't work for Skype 2015. I'm sure it can be done because I have seen someone on my team setup that way. Unfortunately he no longer works here so I'm unable to ask him.

    Thank you!

    Rob

  • For those who aren't tech experts, the first link ( https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Set-CsCustomPresenceps1-in-8c78d094 ) contains a download of "Set-CustomPresence.ps1", which is a powershell script.  Open powershell, change directory (cd) to the directory containing the script, and type "./Set-CustomPresence.ps1".

Be aware that this script seems to spit out errors even when it works, so seeing errors does not necessarily mean it failed.

Next, you need to open the xml file at "C:\_CustomPresence\CustomPresence.xml", and change it to contain the messages you want.

Finally, you need to fully close skype by right clicking the icon in the system tray and selecting "exit", then start it by using the start menu.
