Close Tasks to Update (PWA 2010) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    How does this feature work?

In the Close Tasks to Update page (PWA 2010 + SP1) I select the project summary row (#0) and click Submit then Publish. But the project's tasks are still showing in every resource timesheet.

If a select an elementary task: the result is the same : the task is still showing in every timesheet.

    What I'm missing?

    Thanks

  • Hi WLID1966--

As far as I know, You will need to scroll down to the bottom of the page & click on "Select all" or manually select all tasks to be closed. If you just select the summary level task 0, It doesn't close all other tasks.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi WLID1966--

If you want to close a particular task so that no additional time can be submitted, you can use the Close Task to Update option in Project Server 2010. The closed task simply disappears, which prevents a team member from reporting progress against it. After you closed the Tasks for updates, Is it appearing in existing Timesheets & are the team member able to submit the Actual hours? How about the newly created timesheet?
If you don't want to see the Tasks in timesheets,  from MS Project, Open the project plan, insert column called publish and make the flag as No for 100% comple task & publish, the asisgnment won't appear in resource timesheet cerated after that.

  • Hi Amit,

Is it true that if we select only the project summary (Row 0), all the project tasks are Closed to update?

    Thanks
