Deny external access to ECP but still allow external users to access OWA options RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

We are currently denying external access to ECP in our on-premises Exchange 2013 CU19 single server. Unfortunately this is denying external users access to the "Options" tab in OWA. Internal users (and VPN) can access this without issue.

Is there any way to deny access to ECP but allow external users access to their OWA options without requiring them to be on the VPN?

Thank you for any advice and guidance,

    John

  • Hi John,

How did you deny the external access to ECP?

Please refer to the following articles and check if any helps:

Turn off access to the Exchange admin center

For security purposes, some organizations may want to restrict access to the Exchange admin center (EAC) for users coming from the Internet. This procedure shows you how to turn off access to the EAC. This procedure doesn’t prevent users from accessing the Options in Outlook Web App.

How to disable external access to ECP in Exchange 2013?
