Help with a continual message that pops up

  I know someone asked when using Outlook 20120  how to deal with or get rid of the following message that comes up a lot "NormalEmail.dotm was being edited by another Word session. If you save this document with the original name, you will overwrite any changes made in the other session"

  I dont have Outlook, but I get this same message all the time when trying to save Microsoft word document. And I think it says instead The normal template was being edited...  It happened with my MS word 2002 and now with my MS word 2010.
  
  I dont know if Im losing work or what's going on. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
