Update Rollup 12 directly from UR 8 on DPM 2012 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Can I update directly to UR 12 from UR 8 on DPM 2012 R2?

If so, will updating agents from 8 to 12 require a reboot?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Yes, you can install UR12 and yes the protected servers will require reboots because there were a lot of changes done to the DpmFilter.sys since UR8 and that requires a reboot to get it replaced without loosing block level tracking.

  • Update on the DPM servers works.

Not shure if the agent update requires a reboot. Microsoft made it so that reboots are required far less, i don't remember which UR that was.

  • From UR8 to UR 12 I don't think require to reboot the DPM server because I just done a fresh install of DPM and straight update to UR12. But to update the agent it require to reboot all the protected computer.
