Asked by:
Several MPs have errors on import

Question
-
I've searched for the answer to this, but am coming up dry. Recently, several management packs and updates from Microsoft we've attempted to import come up with the error:
This management pack cannot be imported.
: Cannot load the management pack from the specified sealed assembly file: C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Management Packs\SC Management Pack for File and iSCSI Services\Microsoft.Windows.FileServer.DFSN.2012R2.mp.
This assembly is not fully signed. Cannot verify the strong name signature of the file: C:\Program Files (x86)\System Center Management Packs\SC Management Pack for File and iSCSI Services\Microsoft.Windows.FileServer.DFSN.2012R2.mp
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42066&wa=wsignin1.0
All of the MPs in the above MP package throw this error. There have been a number of others recently as well we've attempted to import and they fail.

Hmm...they appear to fail to import for me as well with the same error. Not sure why.
What other MP's are like this?

I'd have to go back and find them, and I haven't got time at the moment. It was 2 others, one was like that when attempting to import from the catalog, but worked when I downloaded the MP, the other was a new import from download, and I assumed it was for 2016 only, but later found it wasn't, but moved on to other work.
It looks like the signing process is not being done correctly.

If you search the web for This assembly is not fully signed. Cannot verify the strong name signature of the file: you'll find plenty of these happening since 2016.Thursday, October 4, 2018 6:26 PM

I indeed ran that search, and it came back with no solution. One of the links suggested to install the preview versions of these but I can't seem to find that MP there anymore either...
Really very surprising this has been going on for so long without a fix. (o.O)

Trying to bump this, as this continues to be and issue, with many MPs.
