How to redirect all Client from Old Exchange 2003 to New Exchange 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I could migrate successfully from Exchange 2003 to a new Exchange 2007. After migration, i uninstall and remove entirely the old exchange 2003.
After that, the problem is that every users will attempt to connect to the old one Exchange 2003. So how can i redirect the clients to the new one Exchange 2007 server? the clients are running Office 2003 and Office 2007.

  • First thing to check is DNS records.

Are they now pointing to the new Exchange 2007 server?

    Second thing is CAS URLs.

Sometimes people leave them referring to the specific server name: "ExSvr01" rather than "webmail.contoso.com"

If that is the case, those URLs need to be adjusted as well.

    EDIT ---

Once you fix things on the server end, Outlook 2007 clients should be able to adjust using Autodiscover (assuming that is correctly configured). Outlook 2003 clients will probably require manual adjustments.

But check your server side settings first.

  • what to check in DNS?

What about the CAS URL? i've problems with internal users, on the same LAN, with outlook 2003.

  • DNS - Where do your A records for the CAS server point?

Or first, what kind of records do you have configured so clients can find the CAS?

CAS URL - what is the URL for OWA right now, for example?

  • hello. What you mean with Cas Server?

Currently there is only one CAS role (i've installed in typicall exchange 2007), so the CAS server points to Exchange 2007.

The old 2003 Exchange hostname is: SrvExch2003

The new 2007 Exchange hostname is: SrvExch2007

So the Cas Server is SrvExch2007.

The Cas URL is that of SrvExch2007.

  • Step 1 - create a new host A record for testowa.domain.com and point it to the Exchange 2010
Step 2 - create Host A for autodiscover.domain.com and point to Exchange 2010
step - now login to Tesowa.domain.com using Exchange 2010 account (migrate yours or create a new account)
step- now login to test and use the exchange2003 mailbox, it will automatically redirects to exchange 2003 owa interface

  • Dear Vimistrator!
i'm not so clear with your idea.
First of all, i'm upgrading to Exchange2007, not Exchange2010.

Second, i have problems with Microsoft Outlook 2003, i want them to automatically point to the new Exchange2007 Server. I want to uninstall Exchange 2003 from the old server, and remove it from Domain totally.
So let me know with the question of the topic.
    Regards!
