Machines not rebooting during maintenance windows


  • Hello--

    We are currently experiencing an issue with our workstations not rebooting during the defined maintenance windows (twice a month, 11pm-3am).

    We are currently on SCCM 2007 R3 and we are using the maintenance windows for reboots after updates have installed during the day.  Many workstations are rebooting during the configured window, but we have a large number of workstations that are 'Pending system reboot'.

    What logs or status messages would I need to look at to determine why these machines have not rebooted?

  • Do you suppress install on servers? What settings do you set while deploying updates?

  • We are not managing our server patching with SCCM.  

    Here are the pertinent settings for our updates deployment:

    Again, our maintenance windows are set for 11pm-3am the night of the deployment

  • Ok, I’m confused. If you are not managing your SU with CM07, then why do you think that it will reboot during the CM07 MW?

  • Try using this tool to a little deeper on one of the problem clients -

    You can check the running executions and see what is holding up the reboot on these clients.

  • Garth--We are managing SU with CM07 for workstations, not servers.  The problem I am asking about is happening on workstations.

    elshonno--I will try using the Client Center to look for running executitions. Thanks.

  • Have you looked that the RebootCoordinator.log?

    Also the Superflow for SU is a good place to look for troubleshooting tips

  • Can you zip the ccm\logs folder from a client and upload to the external interface of your sky drive and paste the link here?
