outlook 2013 crashes opening HTML emails with (at least) incorrectly positioned table <caption> tags RRS feed

  • Question

  • has anyone come across this ? in OL2013, trying to open an email with HTML body in which the table <caption> tags are not positioned immediately after the <table> tag in HTML causes immediate crash, it seems. Same crash occurs in MS word 2013 trying to open the simple HTML file; MS Edge hangs after opening (cannot scroll) on Win 10. the problem arose through trying to open a "receipt for multiple purchases" from Paypal...the following HTML (1...OK, 2...fail)...illustrate the problem

    (1)

    <html>
    <body>
    <!--StartFragment--><table >
    <tbody>
    <tr>
    <td ><b>Seller</b></td>
    <td ><b>White Hinge Limited</b><br></td>
    </tr>
    <tr >
    <td ><b>Note to seller</b><br></td>
    <td >You haven't included a note.<br></td>
    </tr>
    <tr >
    <td ><b>eBay seller ID</b><br></td>
    <td >ppretail<br></td>
    </tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>
    <div ><p><span>Transaction ID:689812493G059402A</span><br>Date: 1 March 2018<br>Payment status: COMPLETED</p>
    </div>
    <!--EndFragment-->
    </body>
    </html>

  • Hi,

    I failed to reproduce this issue in my environment. Maybe I have missed something. Could you provide the specific build number of your Office program here?

    Besides, it would be better if you could forward such an HTML email to us for further testing. You can forward one to: GBSD TN Office Information Collection ibsofc@microsoft.com. (Please include the URL for current thread in the message so that we can easily identify your email)

    Regards,
