Is it possbible to Export only some test user for galsync ? RRS feed

  • If you have already run a synchronization that applied to more than just your test object, and other exports are pending, there isn't really a way to export just the one you want.  It is possible in your run profile definition to limit the number of objects processed, but that doesn't let you control who.

You could create an export run profile and set the log file option to "Create a log file and stop the run. Do not export to data source. (test only)".  Then you could edit the XML file created after running that profile to remove all but your desired object.  You would then follow it with a matching run profile using the same log file and the option "Resume run from existing log file and export to data source. (test only)".  You may find that the other objects in the file are changed to a different state in the connector space, and if they are imported again without the export taking effect a warning will be issued that exported changes were not reimported.  You can probably avoid this by rerunning your "resume run from existing log file" with a copy of the original export XML file that contained all the objects.

I'm a big fan of manually synchronizing single objects using the Preview feature when first implementing the sync engine so you can more tightly control what objects are changed and when.  It avoids having to tinker with XML files, which can be another source of problems.  If you run a big full sync on all your MAs right off the bat, you get all the exports pending right away and that can be too much to deal with if you haven't already developed a sense of comfort and familiarity.

  • You can try to update the object so it will be marked for export (commit preview), exports are always delta's

  • Thank you.

Is that mean export with "drop file and stop" and edit XML file like which only include object we would like to change , and export with "resume run from existing log file" ?

If I am not satisfied the result of that test export, could I change that MA's pending export

    by synching other MA ?

  • Yes if the pending export is not ok, you can sync or preview from another page and the pending export will be updated/replaced.
