Manual options being prompted from users though its already automated on MDT Image. RRS feed

  • There are some issues related to image deployment in some of the our field sites. Users are being prompted to manually enter the details even though this is configured as an automated process. We have more than 250 Sites, we are developing image on single Prod MDT server, once Image developed we are replicating this image to all individual WDS server on each site using DFS shares.

    This is working fine on all sites but only 4 sites are giving issue. Users are being asked for all details ie computer name, domain join, Time zone. All sites has been added in MDT>Advance Settings> Locations.

  • Verify your Gateway address for those locations, it sounds like they might be incorrect and thus those settings are not being applied.

  • Thanks for your valuable respone, Yes I see these are incorrect. Those site's network was upgraded so network configuration is changed than the original one we have updated in MDT locations. I will check to modify this. 

    One more question, The automation of wizard exposed to end user is controlled by task sequence or customsettings.ini ? I mean the options user's has to fill in wizard. 

    There is a site where I am facing this issue with particular laptop manufacturer whereas other machines are getting it deployed perfectly.

  • Customsettings and or bootstrap.

    Many questions such as where do I find logs and what logs are interesting are found in: MDT TechNet Forum - FAQ & Getting Started Guide Please take the time to read it. Also if you don't post logs your problem won't be easily solved.

  • Just realized that this issue is happening only in certain models, Lenovo T440, T450 and T460. Below is the workaround for this we are using. How to automate this. 

    Enter BIOS setup
    Startup > UEFI Only -- > set to Both
    Security > Secure Boot ---> disabled
     
    BIOS Setup:
     
    On the Initial  boot,
       Secure Boot [ Enable]
     
    Startup
       UEFI/Legacy Boot [ UEFI Only ]
     
    On first reboot
      Secure Boot [ Disable ]
     
    Startup
      UEFI/Legacy Boot [ Both ]
