Schedule Updates (offline) into WIM file greyed out RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got a problem with my CM2012 that I'm hoping someone can help with.

I've got my WIM file and the updates are all synchronised, but when I try to use the schedule updates to inject offline updates into the WIM, the buttons are greyed out (see snippet) do anyone have any idea about this?

  • Offline updates aren't support on Pre-Vista OS's you can't perform offline updates on A XP WIM you will have to recapture a image with the latest updates.

  • Of course - I actually knew this, this is what you get for working on a weekend!

  • Are offline updates also not supported on Windows 8.1 at the moment too? I get the same greyed out 'Schedule Updates' button when trying to inject software updates in to a Windows 8.1 x64 image.

If this is the case, then it's ridiculous.

Any help greatly received as always

  • Offline servicing of 8.1 is supported (when using CM12 R2 or SP1 with whatever CU added 8.1 support).

  • Hi Torsten

Thank you for your response. I will update my SCCM 2012 SP1 installation to CU4.

  • Hi Trosten and anyone else

We have SCCM 2012 SP1 CU5, which obviously supports Windows 8.1

though, the schedule updates button is grayed out for Windows 8.1 images :/

    Windows 7 images works fine

we also updated the console to CU5 and tried either from the server itself and from a local machine with console installed.

upgrading to R2 will still take a while because of many political issues.

any ideas how to overcome this?

  • Hi,

the schedule updates is done by DISM in the background.

one of the prerequisites to upgrade Windows 8.1 WIM files is ADK 8.1 and above.

please make sure you have this version installed
