Shut Down Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there, I have upgraded to win 10 about 2 weeks now and everything seems fine until yesterday where I encounter shut down problems. It seems that it takes forever to shut down the machine and for the last 2 times, I have waited almost 10 minutes and the machine is still shutting down. There's no updating message but just the normal Shutting Down message displayed. Till now, I need to do a hard shut down by pressing and holding the on/off button of my notebook. Pls help.

  • I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter and check if it resolves the issue.

    1) Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel.
    2) Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel.
    3) Click on View all on the left navigation pane. Click on Power.
    4) Click on Advanced on the power troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).

    5) Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Power troubleshooter.

    If the above doesn't help:

    Use DISM Command:

    I) Press Windows + x on your keyboard.

ii) Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt .

iii) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:
         dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
         dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
