Trying to use the Project Center Web Part from another site collection, let's say http://domain.tld/sites/siteA

  • Did you make any recent changes, or did this happen out of the blue when you went to PWA.  Can you provide more details.

    Cheers!

  • No Recent Changes. I tested this on two customers with the same outcome.

Will check the CU applied and tell you.

    Any Clue? Many thanks

  • Did you ever find a resolution to this?   I am trying to do the same thing.  I currently have two PWA site collection and I want to display a list of the Project sites on the publishing page so for me I have say http://domain/ as the publishing page and http://domain/PWA as the PWA site.   When I add the web part I get the This Web Part was unable to load message as well.

  • Ok so I have noticed that if I log in as the farm account and make setup the web part then it works.  But when I give read only to the Pub page to my normal account and look at the page it still gives the same message.

  • Here are a few things to check with your browser.

    1) Try putting in compatibility mode

    2) Make your side a Trusted Site

    3) Try accessing using Ina-Private mode

    4) Does it occur with a different PC or user account

    Cheers!

  • Thank you for the thoughts Michael but none of those worked for me.

What I have done so far is I have added the PWA features to the site which is what has made it work when logged in under the farm account.

So I have 3 account I am testing with

1.) regular account with read only permissions to the Publishing page

2.) Admin account that is in a group that is a site administrator to ALL sites

    3.) Farm account

Currently it works for the Farm account and the Admin account but not the regular account.  I have added the regular account to the same group as the Admin account and will test when the change updates to see if I can access the information.  This will at least let me know that it is a Permissions issue which is what I think it is I just cant figure out which permission it would need to be.

  • Have you been editing the web pages?  Or did the message just start?

I would provision another PWA instance and call it PWAOOB (Out-of-box).  Only use PWAOOB as a reference and do not make any changes to it.  Compare the project center settings in PWA with PWAOOB.   Edit the page and compare  the SharePoint settings between the two PWAs

    Cheers

  • Hi, Apparently this was just fixed in Service Pack 1.
