  • Hi Mike

    Are the libary in random mode or Automatic (from the screenshot it looks like slot 10 so random).

    If you look at the loader's management interface can you see the same barcode labels in the same slots at DPM belives they are located

    Have you added barcodes after writing to the tapes ?

  • Hi the tape drive really doesn't have any fancy interface software. Very limited information is avaible. I have no idea if its in random or automatic. I didnt even know that was an option.I have not added new barcode/tapes after writing. These have been the original tapes since the unit was installed.

    Can you see one slot or mutiple slots in the interface under the loader.

    do you have the part number for the loader ?

    using the RMI

    you should be able to see what the loader sees in the slots , so if you do a rescan you can see if the barcode matches to the correct slot

    same goes for libary mode

    but if you can see mutiple slots its most likely set correctly to random.

  • Hi Guys,

    If a library inventory is started when a tape backup job is running, then the error is normal, it's just reporting that the tape is not in the slot, but instead in the drive.   This should be an information message in my opinion, but DPM is slightly brain dead not realizing that a tape backup is currently using that tape.  If however, there is not backup in progress then the alert is telling you that a tape is stuck in a drive and for you to take action to clear it.

    Hi I'll check to see if my Tape drive has a network interface. As it stands it's not plugged into the network.
