SCCM - which logs to check for application deployment issues? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're running SCCM 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 R2 and have managed to create a package and program which is successfully advertised to a Windows 7 workstation. The deployment job starts and the install.exe can be seen on the client machine but does not progress beyond 0% CPU activity in Task Manager.

Please would somebody point me in the direction of the SCCM logs we need to be checking to troubleshoot this issue further?

    Many thanks

Answers

  • check the exemgr.log file on the client and the log generated by the application you are installing.

  • I found it's the execmgr.log file. It can be found in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Logs (on my machine). See here for more info on SCCM log files: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb892800.aspx

  • Since this is still the top search result for SCCM Application Deployment issues, I want to add:

For SCCM 2012, the application installs are found in AppEnforce.log, while packages and programs are still found in execmgr.log.
