DPM support for SQL 2014 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Current version of DPM 2012 R2 does not support protection of SQL Server 2014 according to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj860400.aspx

Are there any news on expected support or service pack availability for supporting SQL 2014.

  • HI,

I know it's on the roadmap for DPM to add support for SQL 2014 - unfortunately I do not have a timeframe  I can share with you at this time.

  • I agree it has been a while since Sql 2014 has been released.

We upgraded our SQL servers to 2014 and all of the backups that were setup before the upgrade all still work fine.  We just can't add any new databases. It seems like this is probably a small bug fix and should be given some priority.

  • Hi

It's in final test phase, and DPM should support protecting it (barring any problems) in the next system center update.  Look for it in the next UR KB when it gets published.

    UPDATED 10-28-14 - DPM 2012 R2 UR4 has added support for protecting SQL 2014

KB3009516-Update Rollup 4 for System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager

  • Hi Technology Farmer,

Yesterday with the announcement of System Center 2012 R2 UR4 this is possible. Please have a look on below.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2014/10/29/protect-sql-server-2014-using-dpm-2012-r2.aspx

However you cannot use SQL 2014 for the DPM configuration database yet.

I hope this answers your question.

    Thanks,

    Janaka
