MDT Slow to Boot RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi. I currently have MDT 2012 set up and the PXE boot is pretty slow before it completely boots up. Any thoughts on why that would occur?

  • You can try changing the TFTP block size for WDS, but if you are using SCCM it would just be a registry change.

    Take a look at this:

  • What point is it slow at?  Loading the WinPE image?

They can become bloated over time as updating the boot images does not reclaim space.

In WDS, check the boot image size (this is the uncompressed size).  If it's really large, if you have made a LOT of changes over time, you may want to completely regenerate them through the MDT workbench and re-import them.

It happened to me when we first when from testing to live, all the changes I had made had bloated out the boot images.
