Rebuilding Enterprise Global Template - Project Server 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Gary Chefitz has provided the following instructions for rebuilding the Enterprise Global Template on another site:

Copy all of your enterprise views, tables, filters, reports, groups, forms, maps and toolbars and move them to a file using the Organizer. Note that if you are taking these actions on Project Server 2003, you must also backup your custom field by creating matching local fields. This is the ugly part of recovery for 2003.

Do you backup custom fields by creating matching local fields using the Organizer?
Or do you open up the newly created local enterprise global template; and edit
that to contain the matching local custom fields?

    Thanks in advance.

Create the matching local fields in the file containing the views, tables, filters, etc. that you copied from the Enterprise Global file.  To create the local fields in the file, click Tools - Customize - Fields.  Hope this helps.

  • In project professional 2003, i believe you have option to backup Enterprise global under enterprise options.

    Have you tried that?

Unfortunately, our backup is corrupt too, which is why we have to  rebuild.

Many thanks for your help, Dale and Sriram.
