  • After downloading IE8 I have icon link on my desk top that will not open the web site. Message says there is no program association...go to Folder Options and create one..how??

    Also web site links that are sent to me via e-mail do not open the site either.

  • To create program association follow these steps:

    1) click start > my computer > clcik on tools > folder options > File Types. look for .html association. select both .htm and .html association and click on change. Select the default application as internet explore. Now you can open .html files with IE. Refer the below screenshot.

  • Thanks, it almost works like it did, I said almost because I can't get the "Always use the selected program...." box to respond. If I check it and go back the program selection didn't change, in other words the " Microsoft HTML Application host" stays as default. It's better than it was however.

    Any suggestions why I can't launch a web address from a e-mail. Worked fine until IE8.

  • uninstall the IE 8 from add or remove programs.

    download the IE 8 from microsoft. Do a clean installation (if you have any other browser like firefox/chrome/opera-unistall them ).
