Retrieve Data from oracle database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
please i am about developing an application, that acts like an add-on to another application, but its not really goin to be integrated, the joining link between the two apps is the datahouse (database), my challenge lies in the fact that am using SQL and the database of this application happens to be oracle, so i need to find a way to retrieve data from the oracle into my sql, from there i could do the rest coding, i have read the related articles but none seems to address my particular issue, i would be really grateful if i could get some help on this. thanks

  • Hi,

    Try this

Download and install the latest MyODBC 3.51 drivers. (Available at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/3.51.html)
Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator
Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC)
Click the System DNS tab and press the Add button
In the new window, choose MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver and press the Finish button
Fill out the popup using the following values:

    Data Source Name: Test
    Description: Remote Server
    User: User1
    Password: sqlserver
    Database: Oracle Database

Test the connection by pressing the Test button.
If everything tests correctly, press the Ok button.

Create a linked server using the ODBC Data Source.
