Project Pro cannot open Enterprise Global after migration of site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Project Server 2010 with latest Project Pro clients. After running for several weeks on a pilot PWA site we migrated this site to production servers yesterday. We have carefully checked that all settings and configurations are preserved as they should be. And indeed almost everything works perfect.

One rather strange issue has come up though. A group of users in Germany (not all German users) have an issue when connecting through Project Pro 2010. This works for users in several other countries, but just not for these particular users. Note that these users have been able to use Project Pro to work with our pilot site without issues and the same software is used on pilot and production systems. We have tried clearing cache and double-checked all security settings, but nothing seems to help. The error message they get is in German and reads something like 'Enterprise Global Template could not be accessed. There is probably a problem with the database. Please contact your serve administrator'.

Any idea why this would work fine for most Project Pro clients, but not for these particular clients?

Could there be local template changes that causes such issues or language version issue or.....??

  • Thanks for the tip, Sriram.

We received another tip as well that did resolve the issue:

After clearing the cache all project server accounts, except Computer, was removed. When the new site URL was then added in and Project Pro was restarted then it worked.

But we sure will keep your tip in mind as well for later use.

  • Close the project application at the client box.

Rename the global.mpt at the user profiles. later check the behaviour.
