Windows 7 Downloads C:\Users\%Username%\Downloads not creating RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows 7 Downloads C:\Users\%Username%\Downloads is not creating when a user logs onto a machine

Does a user have to perform a download for this to create? If not where would we start troubleshooting this?

  • Look at your default user and see if Downloads exists there.  If not that is why you aren't seeing the downloads folder created.

  • Have troubleshooted this down

Downloads & Contacts will not create locally (as they should). I have roaming profiles configured (AppData, NtUser.dat) and redirected folders for everything else other than Downloads, Contacts & Saved Searches.

Essentially the behavior I am seeing is that on first logon to a machine before roaming user profile is created on the server these local folders create correctly (Downloads, Saved Searches & Contacts). If you log off and log onto another machine (once roaming user profile has created correctly on the server) you do not see these local folders create on the second machine
