Alternative email formats for duplicate firstname.lastname@domain.com RRS feed

  • Question

  • Team,

One of our customers wishes to change their current email format (lastname + firstname initial@domain.com) to firstname.lastname@domain.com. The issue is that there are duplicates and exchange automatically attaches a 2 at the end. Just wondering if any of you guys have sggestions as to how to handle this and alternatives to this scenario.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards,

    Sunil

Any time you use common names and try to create unique addresses with
them you're going to encounter collisions. Your choices are to either
pick some other e-mail address convention, write your own code to
generate the addresses, or to find the ones that have numbers in them
and set their address generation to "manual".
