The ordinal 459 could not be located in the Dynamic Link Library urlmon.dll. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am experiencing the problem cited in the above title.

In my case, it wasn't noticed until trying to access or download newer versions of IE on my computer.  It also appears when trying to download the free Adobe Reader program.

I am also experiencing "failure notifications when attempting to install Windows Updates relevant to IE.

Thank You in advance for any help you may provide.

  • Hi,

and your windows and current Ie versions would be?.....

are you sure your in the right forum.... this one's for IT Professionals that manage 100's of computers on domain networks...

consumer questions about IE should be posted to answers.microsoft.com (where you'll be prompted for your windows and IE versions)

entry point ordinal errors are usually caused because something has unregistered the dll or you are using an older version of that dll. urlmon.dll is responsible for mapping website domains to IE security zones and updating your history...

any IE upgrade requires a reboot of the computer for the changes to take affect.
