DPM 2012 + SharePoint 2007 and Log Backups RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have DPM 2012 setup to backup SharePoint 2007, but we have a question about the best practice of frequent backups so log files don't grow.  In order to control log file size, do we just run a sync more often?  So, we could run an hourly sync?  Is that the best way to handle this?

  • Hi,

Yes,- sharepoint protection only does express full backups, so to truncate the logs you can make several  express full recovery points per day.  DPM can keep up to 448 express full backups for application data (like sharepoint) so divide 448 by the retention period (number of days) and that will give you the maximum express full backups you can take per day.
